Key Stage one workshop provided by ‘Science Boffins’
This year Key Stage one children had the opportunity to participate in a workshop provided by ‘Science Boffins’, the workshop was designed to fit around the children’s science topic ‘plants’. As well as seeing a range of experiments using chemicals and light, children explored how nutrients is transferred to plants, by seeing how a pot of blue water and a pot of yellow water travelled through paper towels and forming a third pot, making orange water. Travelling up the plant, children had lots of fun learning why flowers are brightly coloured.
Furthermore, children had the opportunity to transform into bees, and transport pollen (wotsits), from one plant to another, showing children how bees pollinate plants. The children really enjoyed this educational session and benefited from learning in a fun way.
